backpack and weight

i've been observing on my weight these days, was in hong kong for almost a month, and i was 84kg before heading and i'm 78kg when i returned to kuala lumpur, despite eat like there's no tomorrow in hong kong..

(omg, look at these iphone photos! they're so out of focus, one of the reason i got pissed and bought a 50d)

now i've discover a trend on my weight, whenever i was in kuala lumpur, my weight goes above 85kg quickly (thanks to the oily delicious kl food!). whenever i go backpack or working out of the country, my weight goes down to 78-80kg in few weeks. i remember i was down to 75kg when i spent a week of backpack in cambodia & india.

i think backpack is one of the most effective way to bring down your weight, first thing is you have to walk a lot (unless you backpack with a cab), and get excited to walk anyway because you're in a piece of land that you've never been before. i think the those excitment will burns even more calories when you thinking, seeing, learning new cultures and new style of living in different country.

guess i'll down to 70kg (thanks to the bloody heavy 50d) in my next backpack to vientiane and tibet.

canon 50d

i am in hong kong working for an integration project in the hong kong airport, been spending three weekends in town shooting pictures with my iphone, after porting the pictures from iphone to my laptop, the picture quality was so disappointing, it can't even compete with my previous k750i. so without wasting my time to shoot photos using my iphone, i bought a dslr, a canon 50d with a 18mm-200mm EFS IS lens.

after getting the camera, i was testing it in a park around my hotel in tung chung,

so here's how the canon 50d photos looks like (of course it has been resized, otherwise a 5mb photo will keep you frustrated)

niah

was in brunei again for some integration assignments, when it comes to weekend, i took accenture folks' car and went to miri, pretty bored with the miri town, so i'm thinking of going niah to kill the time.

the niah is just about 90 minutes from miri using the airport expressway, i drove thru the coast way and it's only took 60 minutes from miri town.

here's the car i drove

i thought i can drove all the way to the entrance of the cave, i was wrong, i drove to the niah national park and first thing is to grab a boat to another side of land.

and get an hour walk to the cave! that's really tiring as i was in party till late night.

after an hour of walk, finally i reach to the entrance of the great cave.

then another one hour of walking inside the cave. it's really dark inside there and you've use the torchlight to walk thru the cave. i think for the girls, it's better to get a glove as the handrail is pretty dirty with all the bat guano.

at the end of the cave, you will be spending time to rest and enjoy the scenic view of the niah!

the bad thing is, this trip make me caught a common cold and sick for a week in brunei in this very flu-senstivie period. i'm was pretty exhausted the night before, and this 4 hours walk is killin me. morale behind this, makesure you have enough sleep before going to niah.

Brunei is over, heading back to Kl, next stop - another project in Hong Kong.

all soul day

it was chinese's all soul day (chinese call them qingming or tomb sweeping day), for the past few years i was either out of the country or being too busy to take part, and this year i'm in.

the schedule was tight, we've 2 days and we went to 3 different tombs in 3 different geographic location to carry out the sweeping jobs.

first one was my grand father's. in mantin, n.sembilan - he died when i was 6, i guess.

second one was my grand mother's in seremban, n.sembilan - she died before i was borned and they put her a not so decent tombyard due to bad financial situation in the old days..

follow by my grand father's second wife. in ipoh, perak - she died when i was 3.

besides sweep the tombs and offer food, tea, wine, chopsticks, paper accessories etc, i think the good thing about this festival is to make you get some real good flashbacks of memory on them by looking at their potraint.

tip of borneo

after the completion of assignment and spent a dry week staying in brunei, i took a ferry ride from brunei to labuan and start drinking dozens of beer and eating my favourite snack from my hometown (sandakan)..

the next day i'm back to my home in kota kinabalu and thinking of going somewhere to kill time.

and i recalled this place call tip of borneo, somewhere around kudat, and i googled the direction of it, took my dad's hilux and go.

it took me 3 hours driving on a bloody bumping road and here we are, the tip of borneo, where the south china sea meets the sulu sea.

the scenic views were fantastic!

i'll definately come back for a night stay next time when i'm back to kk.

shell brunei

well, back to brunei once again after 2 years, this time is an assignment for shell brunei, the locale o&g giant which dominates the GDP of brunei.

below are the facts..

1, if you plan to go BSP, do not fly to bandar seri bagawan, i took an expensive lesson, a cab ride from the airport to KB/Seria (where shell is) cost me 150 BND, that's far more expensive than the cab i took in melbourne or hong kong)..

2, so if you're not flying to bandar, how you get to shell? the answer is, just fly to miri and take a cab from there, it's much more cheaper, and it's much more faster.

3, KB/Seria is very very dry, makesure you're equipped with your source of entertainment. i've my iphone to keep me away for thinking of alcohols.

4, working hour is like 730am to 430pm. an absolute reverse of my own working clock.

overall, a very dry week.

my first car accident

oh well, yesterday is my lucky day, got my first car accident along the jalan duta, one cool dude kissed my car's ass.

facts:

1, a bimmer hits a bimmer.

2, an e39 hits an e46.

3, a 5 series hit my 3 series.

4, an iphone 2g owner hit a iphone 3g owner (i'm sure he's playing his phone while driving, it's really addictive)

5, he's a ceo and i'm not.

6, two of us becomes friend.

a look at his e39

a look at my ass

his bimmer looks pretty bad, mine is untouched, i think e46 has a tough ass.

joe (the one who kissed my ass) took care of my painting bill, and get done in one day and now my e46 has a new shiny, fresh new ass.
